The Narikuravar community is one of Tamil Nadu's oldest tribal communities with a rich cultural heritage and unique identity. Traditionally known for their nomadic lifestyle, beadwork craftsmanship, hunting practices, and indigenous knowledge, the community
has contributed significantly to the cultural diversity of South India.
The Narikuravars
speak Vaagri Booli, a distinct language that reflects their historical roots and cultural
traditions. Over generations, they have faced numerous social and economic challenges including poverty, discrimination, lack of educational opportunities, inadequate healthcare access, and social exclusion.
Despite these challenges, the community has preserved its traditions, strong family values, and resilience. Recent recognition as a Scheduled Tribe has opened new opportunities for education, employment, and social development.
